The Whittemore Wildlife Sanctuary

Located on Rockaway Road in Oldwick, the Sanctuary is dedicated to environmental education.  The Sanctuary was bequeathed to the Township by Mrs. Helen A. Whittemore and is governed by a Board of Trustees.  

Environmental educations programs are run by The Friends of Whittemore T/A The Roving Nature Center, which is a 501 (c) (3) non-profit organization whose sole purpose is environmental education; to stimulate awareness and understanding of the total environment-natural, altered, human and histioric-among people of all ages; to develop a sense of responsibility for the care and wise use of our natural resources.

Roving Nature Center programs offered at the Sanctuary include but are not limited to:  summer nature day camps, winter and spring break camps, maple sugaring, year-round after school and toddler programs, children's garden quilt, birthday parties and scouting programs.  Special events for families such as GIving Thanks to Nature and Survival with Mrs. Claus are also held throughout the year.  For more information go to www.whittemorewildlife.org

The park has trails for hiking, dog walking and horseback riding.
